Choosing the Right Hardware for your Kitchen or Bath

One detail of a kitchen project that is often overlooked by customers and designers alike is the importance of choosing the right kitchen cabinet hardware. It can be quite overwhelming with the amount of choices there are. Do you go with knobs? Handles? Cup pulls? We like to remind our clients of the importance of choosing the right hardware. We believe it is just as important as picking out the big stuff. It is a small and fairly inexpensive design element with a major impact.

Most important rule of thumb: your hardware must strike a personal balance between form and function and should pull your whole kitchen together.

Picking hardware for existing cabinetry:

When picking out kitchen cabinet hardware, you are a little more limited with your design choices.

Rule of thumb: correlate hardware with the number of drill holes your existing hardware has. o Ex: if you have handles, which usually require two holes, you will not be able to do a single knob unless you fill the holes.

Picking hardware for existing cabinetry:

KNOB OR PULL?

Personal preference is the main deciding factor between the two.

Rule of thumb: your hardware should complement the style of your kitchen and must be comfortable to use.

Most common application: knobs on doors and pulls on drawers.

All knobs: traditional, uniformed, streamlined look.

All pulls: contemporary, geometric, eye catching look.
